"Ancient" FRH?

Post by MasterOfPuppets » Sat Mar 10, 2007 2:09 am

Hey guys, this will be my first post.

So the other day, I bought two IMPs and two FRHs from my local surplus store. I didn't really notice until now, but one of them is marked "US 1991". If I'm not mistaken, FRHs started to be fielded in 1992 right? So would that make this one something rare or strange or some other thingamajigger? Or maybe its not a year marking at all? Well here's the picture for you all to judge.

And here's the link for the High-Res:

P.S. If you guys want, I've got some pictures of a couple of IMPs and their contents.

I'm not so up-to-date on my FRH history, but I think they started producing FRHs in 1990 but they didn't start including FRHs in the MREs until 1995. So maybe this was just an FRH from one of the earlier batches. Maybe someone else here can chime in with some ideas.

I checked all MRE heaters I own, there is a pack with twelfe in it, it´s from 1992, these are the oldest ones in my collection! I think that yours from 1991 is a rare one!
