I have a 2012 Chicken Pesto Pasta that had no date code on the outer bag but the date codes on the entrees themselves were all present. Some may just miss the press when they go down the assembly line on stamp day.

Can´t recall exactly whey they discontinued the outer date, but it was long before 2012. They only did for 2... 3... year or less.

I have MREs with outer embossed dates of 3066, 3336, 4028, 4029, 4034, and others starting with 3 or 4. And one from last year with a 5. But I think there's also one in there without a date code on it. I try to eat them in date order and haven't shopped for any recently but my commissary seldom has any much more than a year old so many now must be 2015 production.
