Random Pop Tart Question

Post by Failsafe77 » Sat Mar 07, 2015 9:16 pm

Is frosted brown sugar with cinnamon the only variety that exists in MREs? Anyone ever got one aside from this variety in an MRE genuine or civilian?

The meal kit supply MREs can contain a strawberry pop tart:

Although this is an older video so the newer variety may only contain brown sugar cinnamon.

So they do exist! I wonder if genuine military MREs all use the same flavor then.... Either way thanks for the response!

I usually end up with the chocolate chip variety, they're definitely not name-brand and are made by another company. Last time I found one was in a 2010 (ish) Maple Sausage Patty MRE.

Meal Supply Kit still has a few varieties of Pop Tart. Can't think of specifics off the top of my head, but definitely all three mentioned so far and possibly others (apple?).

The ones I acquire always have no "frosting" left. It seems to have evaporated as there's no residue on the packaging. They spend most of their time stored in a warehouse that is not climate controlled so possibly it is melting away but I'd expect a puddle of sugar at least.

The very first MRE I ever ate (chili con carne, I think it was) had a chocolate chip toaster pastry.

We're proud to offer 3 different flavors of Pop Tarts in our 3-course MREs: strawberry, chocolate, and brown sugar.

Strawberry is our favorite. Nomnom.
