ok kman, I got it out of the trash (no prob since it was on top). I smelled it and threw it right away after initially opening it. I took this shot and it seems the green was all I saw at first, now there's shades of brown mixed in there also.

on second thought, the smell tells me that it may serve as good catfishing bait!

Hi guys,

yesterday I opened a „Chocolate Nut Cake“ with the date packed 4230 (17.08.1984)!
It was all ok, appearance, smell and taste! Yummy! :D

Stef, based on the color of that outer box, that's definitely not from 1994 or 2004 - so it looks like it's 1984.

Wow, mreheater - nice job, brave man! Thanks for sharing the experience with pictures. One of these days, we'll have scratch-and-sniff on web browsers and then this taste-testing will go to a whole new level. :-)

I´m really sure the cake is from 1984, because 1992 was the last year "nut cakes" appear in MREs  .

Kman, I hope the scratch-and-sniff on web browsers will come soon :D!

So long mreheater72
