New US Ration I've Never Seen Before On Ebay!
Re: New US Ration I've Never Seen Before On Ebay!
Rarity aside, $25 for a first strike bar and some snacks is my idea of a giant ripoff.
Cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.

I thought so too, Rocky. But I really wanna try that caffeinated chocolate pudding..!
Just noticed this is is for only ONE packet... yeah Rocky.. it's a ripoff..
If it were for 3 packets, it woulda been worth it.
Even I'll pass on this one.. oh well.

Was this the combat ration made for the first hours of battle? I read they were developing a striped down meal for Soldiers and Marines to stuff something in their mouths when in actual contact. I read that Army Paratroopers Infantry, Tankers, Rangers, Marines, USAF forward Controllers etc.. just wanted something to put in their stomachs during intense periods of action, when they have no time to sit down and eat Country Captain Chicken or the dreaded Omelette
Are these that ration?
I read in WW 2 they made a special assault ration that had raisins, nuts, cereal bar, 'tropical' chocolate bar. A type of combat snack to keep up energy. (I might be wrong on that ration)
Not as a real meal. Is this the modern incarnation

These are extra calories for situations where the standard ration won't be enough. They make arctic and jungle versions, with this being the Hot Weather version.
From the Operational Rations manual:
From the Operational Rations manual:
Great find, I've never seen a live one before! The Modular Operational Ration Enhancement (MORE) was developed to augment daily operational rations with additional components tailored to particular environments. There are two types of MORE, one targets high altitude and cold weather while the other is intended for hot weather operations.
PURPOSE
Warfighters in extreme environments, such as cold weather, high altitude, or elevated temperature, require extra calories beyond the standard operational rations in order to combat weight loss and decreased physical and cognitive abilities. The MORE provides the correct amount of extra calories for these specific environmental scenarios with the right balance of fat, carbohydrate, and protein. By augmenting the MRE™ or FSR™ with additional calories and nutrients, the Warfighter is capable of performing at maximum capacity in extreme environments. The MORE is not a replacement to the MRE™ or FSR™; it is a scientifically balanced addition that ensures peak performance in even the most austere battlefield locations.
TECHNOLOGY
MORE components are calorically dense and carry a balance of carbohydrates, caffeine, electrolytes, vitamins, antioxidants, and amino acids. The MORE includes food components that are essential to improving the mental and physical abilities of Warfighters in demanding, extreme conditions.
CHARACTERISTICS
- The MORE-High Altitude/Cold Weather and MORE-Hot Weather are composed of developmental and commercial items, including caffeinated pudding, energy gels, carbohydrate-enhanced beverages, First Strike™ bars, carbohydrate-dense nut mixes, crackers, caffeinated gum and Zapplesauce®. Drink powders are issued in easy-to-use pouches hour-glass pouches. The MORE has a shelf life of 2 years at 80°F.
- All components are lightweight, low cube, can be eaten on the move without preparation, and are easy to consume and digest. The MORE is lightweight and compact, providing only the enhancements most critical to maintaining Warfighter mental awareness and physical stamina.

Wow that price is crazy! These are called the MORE, they were developed for Special Operations (all services) I know a few people who tested these back in the day, they were originally given out during mountain warfare training. These seem to be the hot weather variant.

Look like they are new this year? Seems like a pretty good idea in both the Hot and Arctic/High Altitude versions. Complete agreement on the eBay price being ridiculous for what it is.
