Ran across a case that seemed normal, but isn't quite right

Do they have date code?
I have not seen a package newer than manufacture in 2009.

2010

I just realized this is a Sopakco case, perhaps I'm used to Wornick or Ameriqual style?

I'm going through a case of 2010 Sopacko MRE's and none of mine contain any af the irregularities that you have described and shown. If anything my pouches are super durable and I couldn't easily tear them apart. It does seem strange.

This may sound like a conspiracy theory, but I'm wondering if the government might be pressuring these companies to make their packaging a bit less durable to prevent those evil militias and crazy survivalists from stocking up for the second civil war!  I mean as crazy as it may sound, if you notice even some of the nutrition info is different on what is alledgedly the same food items as in the military contract stuff. I'm not trying to sound crazy but I really don't see a point in these differences which others as well as myself have noticed.

It could be that SOPACKO might have accidently made some thinner plastic bags and not noticed them or maybe cut a corner or two in the manufacturing process. I seem to remember having a outer bag or two in the past that easily tore open much the way your describing. I would chalk it up to a rare occurance.

As for the coffee packet, I've never seen that version before. Again, perhaps that SOPACKCO may have accidently thrown this in, swtiched manufacturers because of shortages, or is trying something new. Definitely try the coffee and let us know what it tastes like. :D
