My favorite part of the article is how they say that they won't distribute the food to any Americans but they'd be more than happy to give it to some other country to eat.

I say put all those rations up on ebay! By the time they get the 10,000th one posted, the price ought to be down to $0.25 each!

Where in Arkansas are the IMP's?? Anyone heard. I am 3 hours from Little Rock. $$ and a smile can go a long way to getting what you need.

I checked a few articles but can't find anything more than specific than "a warehouse in Arkansas". That certainly narrows it down, doesn't it?

Maybe it's in a US Agriculture Department warehouse or FEMA warehouse.I guess you'd need some contacts in those agencies to find out any more detail.

Any more to this story? Whatever happened? Also wouldn't the retort packaging process "kill off" any BSE, the Brit packages are made about like ours I think and ours after being cooked and packaged go through an additional process to kill any bacteria or virus that could conceivably survived the regular cooking. I think they boil the complete packages and then bombard them with some sort of electromagnetic radiation if I ma not mistaken.

Cooking does NOT make the infected meat safe! Prions (this is the bad stuff ) can be incinerated (ashes) and still get you! This is toxic waste at its worst. The end of the Human race will be caused by US!

I am not talking about the cooking as much as the radiation they bombard through them once the package is sealed. I am no biologist or chemist, but I can't see how the ashes of burned Mad Cow meat are still toxic.
best ration quote..

Well...
Inactivation of prions. Prions are characterized by extreme resistance to conventional inactivation procedures including irradiation, boiling, dry heat, and chemicals (formalin, betapropiolactone, alcohols). While prion infectivity in purified samples is diminished by prolonged digestion with proteases,(39)(40)results from boiling in sodium dodecyl sulfate and urea are variable. Sterilization of rodent brain extracts with high titers of prions requires autoclaving at 132C for 4.5 hours (h). Denaturing organic solvents such as phenol or chaotropic reagents such as guanidine isothiocyanate or alkali such as NaOH can also be used for sterilization.(41)(42)(43)(44)(45) Prions are inactivated by 1N NaOH, 4.0 M guanidinium hydrochloride or isocyanate, sodium hypochlorite (2% free chlorine concentration), and steam autoclaving at 132C for 4.5 h.(46)(47)(48)(49) It is recommended that dry waste be autoclaved at 132C for 4.5 h or incinerated. Large volumes of infectious liquid waste containing high titers of prions can be completely sterilized by treatment with 1N NaOH (final concentration) or autoclaving at 132C for 4.5 h. Disposable plasticware, which can be discarded as a dry waste, is highly recommended. Because the paraformaldehyde vaporization procedure does not diminish prion titers, the biosafety cabinets must be decontaminated with 1N NaOH, followed by 1N HCl, and rinsed with water. HEPA filters should be autoclaved and incinerated. :?
