New shelter rations?

Post by rationtin440 » Tue Nov 29, 2011 10:31 pm

A buddy of mine who works in a gov't agency mentioned something to me about FEMA coming up with what he calls "new shelter rations" he said they're basically a new and more nutritious version of the classic civil defense crackers and candy, but also containing some kind of meat variety. Does anyone know more about this? I'd think that if the fallout shelters in American cities were going to be re-stocked they'd use Mountain House stuff or MREs.

Would you be willing to bug your buddy for a little more information? This is really interesting since it almost indicates a resurgence of the Civil Defense system. Before there were as many commercial providers of long term storage food the CD Administration was the primary supplier for fallout shelters across the nation so the idea that they're coming up with a new general survival ration for the first time in decades might mean a return to that mindset/system is coming.

I did try to get some more intel from him but he said he's not supposed to talk about it, the impression I got was food rations for FEMA "evacuation centers" which I definately do not like the sound of. He got upset when I asked for more details.

Oh well that's pleasant sounding  Plenty of folks out there are trying to prove these places are being built and stocked in secret... this makes that outlook a bit more plausible. It's still hearsay of course, but not to be discounted outright.

Instead of inquiring about the shelters themselves try and ask him about only the rations just avoid the whole shelter issue he might be more willing to answer that.

You know any time FEMA is mentioned doing something only good things can come of it!

If you want to know what's in FEMA's new 'ration' it might be easier to ask a surviving Soviet-era political dissident who grew up behind the Iron Curtain.

I am sure any one of them can still rattle off the ingredients seeing as how not much goes into a Gulag ration!

2. Does your organization have a product available that meets all the specifications above?

If the answer is "Yes:" What is the country of origin?

If the answer is "No:" (a) Can your organization produce such a product? (b) What would be the product lead time? (c) What country are the manufacturing plants located in?

WTF??? What happened to "Made in the USA"??? Aren't the government purchases supposed to favor local american bussiness??? hmmmmmm....
