I can do better than that at the "GOUGE-U" army navy store up the street, what are people thinking?
No kidding, I've recently started looking at having more MRE's around for emergencies. I only have about 10, but ideally would like to have about 3-4 cases, but I too can't see paying more then $5.00 a meal and that includes adding in the shipping. I don't know why people are paying so much for them.

Kman, Thanks for the ebay info link!

I have'nt done any shopping on Ebay for awhile. I've seen a few mentions on the forum about CaginClara before. whats with her(It's) whining about Postal rates going up. It is aware that it's illegal to ship MRE's by USPS. Right? Who is this Deepbluediver from St. Charles, LA, trying to hawk 1990's issue cases as recent production, or am I missing something? I stopped looking after page 2. :?:

I haven't done much MRE shopping on Ebay recently, too. I look at the auctions every day but the "good deals" have been few and far between.

What's the deal with CajunClara? Who knows? I can only TAKE SO MUCH ALL CAPS TYPING so I haven't been keeping up with her auctions. :-) But she probably sells the most MREs on ebay.

As to CajunClara..Well the current hurricane season is over..next year might be good!
As Far as where most of the ebay mre sales come from:
The Most Interesting Story I Have Read recently on the net is if new orleans is to come back as a chocolate, vanilla, neopolitan or non city :D

Ebay #8818373260. Gee that case must have went thru the system, and only got 11 meals in it, then the strapping employee, could only get 1 strap on it. Hmmm? Hey Kman, looks like all the hominahomina about the hurricane season is working, on the Ebay thing? I'm out, but I can get lots of these things called cans, of meat, potatoes, peaches, etc.

Yeah, it looks like Ebay prices aren't coming down too much. And here we are just about to start in on new hurricane season - must be time for those $80 cases to start springing up again.

Oh well...DangerousDave, you have a point - MREs might be in short but expensive supply but the grocery store still has lots of spam and canned peaches. I guess this will be a retro-rations season with us all putting together our own MCIs/c-rations.

So I have the canned meat and the canned fruit. Does anyone know where I can find canned crackers and canned peanut butter? Bonus points go to anyone with a source for canned fruitcake. :-)

:D Glass is still pretty good. You can get a jar of PB, and a box of Food-Dog crackers will keep awhile as long as you have a WP Bag. As for the fruitcake, I guess the Vermont Store has some kind of canned fruitcake and canned British puddings, but you'll have to pay out the yang for those. Hey KMan, maybe you should start a thread about generally available long life/emergency foods for hurricanes. A Can of Chef Boyardee goes a long way. I heard on CNN that someone actually found a cadaver from Hurricane Katrina a couple days ago. Having a difficult time ID'ing the skeleton. PS, real fruit cake stays good forever. You can burry it, burn it, have trucks and tracks run over it. It's Im-penetratable, but you still can injest it.

mw509...that's just wrong:

At $18.50 per 2-pound can, though, I'm going to have to pass. How about some individual servings. :-)
