I have read somewhere that they will be doing away with the Beef Pot Roast W/Vegetables, and I think that royally sucks.
It is probably the closest thing I have ever had to my grandma's pot roast, and Lord rest her soul, that woman could really throw down in the kitchen. I think of her quite often, every day.
This being said, it is one of the few items in the MRE lineup that is done right. To open this up and have a meal that tastes like it was made in my grandma's crock pot is an immense morale booster, so when I head to the Knob Creek Machine Gun Shoot, I'll keep a lookout for vendors selling single meals and get as many as I can. Aside from this, I'm going to pick up six cases ( have to replenish long-term food supply. I wiped mine out over the winter due to hard times. Ah, but I ate well!!)
and see if I can't find some of these items on my end. Am really wanting to try the biscuits and gravy. Being raised on a Southern diet, I do love that stuff, so trying that out oughta be interesting.
Honestly, I think there should be more breakfast-type menus to include.
Psychologically speaking- and maybe I'm wrong here- I feel better having something like the Veggie Omelotte ( I actually dig them. The ham ones were far superior) when my day starts. It's a small piece of normality when you are out there humping all that shit from rally point to the next, or when you're out with the boys doing weekend Scouting. I mean, most people don't get up and scarf Chicken and Salsa for breakfast.
I also wonder why the manufacturers do not re-introduce some past menus from time to time. You would not believe the insatiable craving I constantly have for Pork W/ Rice In BBQ Sauce, and Ham Loaf with the Beans W/ Tomato Sauce.

A few months ago I opened my last pouch of the beans and the Four Fingers Of Death and the beans were not good and I had to throw it away.
