I wouldn't buy any MREs from them {eBay} normally but I have noticed that some of you have gotten some great deals there but I tell you, those deals are few and far between.
Hello dex;

I appreciate how you feel, but my eBay experience has been vastly different from yours. Maybe it's because my g/f is an eBay Power Seller, and I can have her vet my auctions before I bid. :?:

In the MRE catagory, I just won an eBay auction for 2 cases of 2004 MREs for $70.00. With shipping {TN to MO} that comes to $94.39 or less than $4.00 per meal :!:

I know I'm going to get the items. The seller, baker1111coins has 275 positive feedbacks from buyers alone in 11 pages. All his feedback looks like the comments below.

As Advertised,Fast Shipping, Good Seller,

Excellent Communications...Prompt Shipping.....Good Product (mrese)

Items received in great shape, quick ship, will buy from in future A++

Just as described, Very fast shipping, A++++++ Thank You

Looks like that shady auction closed for $0.01 - but with $65 shipping. Did anyone ever complain about the seller? I see from his feedback that he has a few neutrals - and one about being fooled by the high/hidden shipping charges.

I filed a "Fee Avoidance" report with eBay as I showed how to do on page 2 of this thread.

I'm hoping someone else here does it also!

I was going to do that but then I noticed that auction was from back in October and I figured it was too late.

well we have a seller-carlespy in franktown colorado. he puts about a 45.00
reserve on his mres. now we have a buyer-sexkellysman from location usa.
but if you search by distance nearest you find that sexkellysman is in -suprize-franktown colorado.a very small town. now after reserve is met on carlespy's mre's sexkellysman can jump in the bidding frenzy in the last few seconds and push the price up. if you research feedback on both you can see the pattern. things like this are whats keeping the price from dropping back to a reasonable after katrina level.

kent, that too is a violation of ebay policy. See: http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/sel ... dding.html

Prices on eBay are still outrageous... I've been outbid every day for the past two weeks becuse I refuse to pay more than $5 per MRE. Every auction I bid on ends at where they go for $7 per or more. And I'm talking about ones with the 2006 date.
I can do better than that at the "GOUGE-U" army navy store up the street, what are people thinking?
Meh.

What is ebay's take on sellers? I've bought alot of stuff but never sold any. Is it a flat rate, a percentage? What is it?

Here's the page that explains the fees:

http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/fees.html

The short story is there's an "insertion fee" for the auction listing - anything from $0.25 to $4.80 based on the starting price. And then there's a "final value fee" which is $1.31 plus 2.75% of any amount over $25.

That's just a quick summary - that page will explain all the details.

And don't forget PayPal fees!
