MRE "grab bag"

Post by mreheater72 » Sat Jan 01, 2011 3:07 pm

Happy New Year!

Yesterday, on New Year's Eve the mailman brought me a MRE “grab bag” :D . I bought it at eBay Germany for 11,72 EURO, that’s about 15 USD. The DoP of the single MRE constituents go from 1987 to 2004. Now I want to show you some photos:

The flat MRE Case without sleeve where the MRE parts were packed shows the DoP 11/87 (November 1987):

Some view into the case, a mix of MRE parts with different DoP:

All MRE parts of the “grab bag” at one glance:

Some main courses and side dishes with DoP from 1987 to 1994:

Some Crackers with DoP from 1989 to 1994:

Some freeze dried items, spreads, brownies and white plastic spoon with cut tip:

Beverage Base Powders with different flavors and packers:

Some Crackers, Beverage Base Powders and Peanut Butter in packed in tan foil DoP from 1999 to 2004

Different dark brown foil Accessory Packets (all already opened)

Accessory Packet B with HOT SAUCE (!!!), akin to the A-Packet E from treesuit we discussed here some weeks ago

Constituents of A-Pack E with the unusual TABASCO bottle we also discussed in this context, the CANDY is missing

Some FRHs (1994 and 1995), dark brown plastic spoons and opened A-Packs with clear foil

I like that case with really interesting contents :D !

All of those are very interesting, did you get it off Ebay.de?

I can see the A-packet B, definite cousin to my E from long ago.

Yes, that TABASCO bottle is the "highlight" out of the whole "grab box"!!! :D :D

Yes, I bought it at ebay.de for about 15 USD. I’m really happy with that scarce Accessory-Packet that was produced only for a short time period :D :D .

Aaah! I want that dehydrated fruit mix!! I like the crackers too - I opened up a 1993 case of mre's a month ago and all the crackers were still good... man I'm terrible I have never saved one MRE that I've bought... I've eaten them all!! 8)

Steve,

Keep trolling through ebay and some of the other foreign ebay sites. Sometimes Ebay England or Germany will have older MRE parts or meals on them. Such as the case with MREheater72. It doesn't hurt to ask them if they'll ship to the US but mind you shipping will be a concern.

Yeah I'm going to try that Treesuit! Thanks for the advice! I'm always going to be on the look-out for Fruit, Freeze Dried. I ate the 4 I got in a 1993 case a friend gave me recently and I've been hooked ever since.

Yeah I didn't know about this site OR if it was even POSSIBLY safe to eat 17 year old mre's... I just opened and did a look/smell/taste test on everything before I actually ingested any. The only entree I couldn't stomach was Tuna & Noodles or whatever it was.. whatever I didn't eat I put on this huuuge Fire Ant Nest outside and they ate it. Sadly the old cheese spread and a few old peanut butters didn't kill them... it only made them stronger! hehhehe
