Trans fat in the Dairy Shakes
Trans fat in the Dairy Shakes
I just bought 100 shakes (thanks Treesuit) and am noticing a big difference in trans fat between same flavored shakes.
Vanilla 7197 (printed) Transpackers
16g fat
2g trans fat
19g protein
Vanilla 9314 (stamped) Jianas Brothers
19g fat
6g trans fat
17g protein
Anyone know why this is? Plus you would think the newer MRE would have LESS trans fat than the older one. Weird.
Thanks!
Brett

Wasn't there a recall on all dairy shakes? (salmonela)
Re: Trans fat in the Dairy Shakes
The military did as "measure of precaution", ->read this<-
Re: Trans fat in the Dairy Shakes
Technically yes, but what doesn't kill you makes you stronger! Plus I've been reading up and haven't heard of anyone linked to it getting sick.

Good catch - I bet it has something to do with the different producers (Transpackers vs. Jianas Brothers) and their processes for making the shakes.desperado wrote: Vanilla 7197 (printed) Transpackers

Not all, just some specific batches. See the link above for more info.Macaroni wrote:Wasn't there a recall on all dairy shakes? (salmonela)

Every company has his own "secret recipe"..
One has some more transfat then the other, and the taste will also be (a bit) different.
Sure, someone may one day kill me with my own gun.
But they'll have to beat me to death with it because it's empty.
A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kick boxing.

I just wish the military would come out and say that they milkshakes are safe to drink again. I sell some on ebay once in awhile and I always get some smartass that tells me there was a recall and that I shouldn't sell them blah blah blah....then somehow that person has to give me a link to the above realted topic here on this site,
and then qoute it as if he/she actually wrote the article....again what some people ![Mad :x](./images/smilies/icon_mad.gif)

Re: Trans fat in the Dairy Shakes
A person with normal health wouldn't even be affected by the amount of salmonella.
You need quite a lot of it to get sick, as it is relatively harmless. But it can be a serious risk for people with a bad health.
The only reason is that it is a faecal germ, so the food is contaminated by faecal matter. This can be because of an contamination on egg (no idea if it is in it) or on cow nipples. The affected shakes only contained TRACES of it. Harmless, but enough for a preventive recall. Nothing to be worried about.. it also only affected a few batches.. So simply state that those shakes aren't from those batches. It's the easy way.. they will be sold anyways.
PS. can you please send me in a PM what you still need for a trade? If you give me some more time I'm probably able to get some more Dutch stuff.
