I have a question I was wondering if any of you may have some experience or advise. I bought a small case of MREs and my wife and I are planning on visiting BC Canada (where she’s from) touring the Canadian Rockies - Banff, Jasper &c. in a small camper van we have. We thought we’d bring them along – “yah never know”. Anyway a year ago we flew up to her parents for Thanksgiving and in our checked luggage we had a small can of chicken gravy from Williams and Sonoma. Unfortunately Canada Customs confiscated it saying we couldn’t bring any animal food (canned or not) across the border. (Oddly enough we just went to Williams and Sonoma up there and bought a new can, exact same thing – go figure.) So that experience has me wondering,,, does anyone have any experience bringing MREs across the border into Canada?
Mahalo for any help!

Re: MRE to Canada?
I haven't received any MREs in Canada, but I've sent them there and have heard from other people who've done the same thing. You just never know with Customs - they might inspect your package and let it though, they might block it, or they might not check it at all. It seems like they're a lot more strict at airports with checking every single item in your bag than they are at a border crossing going through every single item in your whole car/camper.

Which Island are you from???
And yes, Customs inspections are arbitrary, you never know what they'll do...
