Marking hiking trails and eating MREs

Post by mreheater72 » Sat Sep 12, 2009 1:22 pm

Hi guys,

today my nephew and me used the nice weather to mark one hiking trail near our home town Marktleuthen in Fichtelgebirge, Germany :D . It is my complimentary job in the “Fichtelgebirgs-Association“ to mark trails and to renovate seat benches. So we put some MRE parts in our rucksacks and start our job :D . Here are some pictures:

My nephew wearing ACU with silicone cartridge for sticking marking at trees or other objects:

Me with barking iron to remove harsh bark from trees for better fitting of marking:

My nephew during lunch time. In background on the rock two MRE entrees warming up in FRHs:

2008 VEGETABLE LASAGNE:

Opened pouch of VEGETABLE LASAGNE, very delicious:

Me with Accessory Packet coffee in HOT BEVERAGE BAG:

So we marked 11 km hiking trial distance. It was a really nice day :D :D .

Your post makes me miss your beautiful country. All of my time there was during training with the army, but even when I was cold and tired I could sometimes appreciate it.

I hope to visit again some time as a civilian.

Vegetable lasagne looks excellent, by the way. It's hard to go wrong with any of the Italian style entrees.

Very nice post thanks, for the pics of your country!

Yes, my nephew also collects US uniforms, gear and rations. But in contrast to me he likes more the “modern” equipment. And I guess I have the decuple amount of MREs   . And he is sad that he had never eaten a good old MRE Nut Cake. But next time we will do that together :D !
