I decided to had some new MRE's I received from a family member who bought it at the commisary @ Ft. Sam in TX. Is a 2008 Menu 18 "Meatball in marinara " made by SOPACKO.Date 7268
Althoug it sayr Menu 18 it has the contents of Menu 8 of 2009 production...

It had the following:
1 meatballs in marinara sauce
2 wheat snack breads
1 cheese spread with bacon
1 cheddar cheese pretzels
1 almonds smoked flavored
1 beverage powder: Tropical punch*
1 pizza seasoning packet
1 accesory packet w/coffee (Nescafe crystals)
spoon,FRH and a hot beverage bag
It surprised me when I opened it that it had no sweets whatsoever, usually they have one but not this one. Also the combination of foods ,meatballs with bread????. Interesting

Well I opened the meatballs pouch and at the begining I thought, Where are the meatballs?????

They taste like their cousins from Spaghettios or Chef Boyardee's only way smaller, not even kiddie size. the taste was good so did the sauce ,specially when you added the pizza seasoning which is a mixture of seasonings and parmesan cheese.
To add a little bit of extra tinge I mixed up a little of the bacon cheese spread, so it made it a little bit thicker, good to put it on the wheat breads....yummmm!!
After that I ate the smoked almonds and the pretzels ( good for a snack) and washed all of this with the tropical punch which tasted a lot like "Fruit Punch",This surprised me because when I read the menus here , it said It had a chocolate beverage so maybe the run out and added some tropical punch instead..

For my sweet tooth??? I simply had me a lemon poppy seed cake from my scnackies leftovers stash

Well there you have it. Over all this menu is simple and tasty. They could hade made it better if instead of 2 pieces of bread they could have added like pasta or rice and something sweet to finish it off. But,t least keeps your belly full for the next chow...

Guys,sorry I have no pics...

Maybe next time...

Peace!
