Hello I am brand new to the forum so I am sorry if I'm posting old information. These pamphlets are from the 1950's to the present which describes the rations of the armed fores in great detail. These documents are available only in Adobe© Acrobat© format unless otherwise noted.

DOD Ration Pamphlets
Re: DOD Ration Pamphlets
Corsair26,
Wow, that link to those pamphlets was kind of fun. I was curious and looked at the 1950's version and then the 1960's one. For those who have not read any of them the 1960's pamphlet contains an article near the end simply called " Meal, Ready to Eat, Individual". Though it doesn't describe the prototype MRE that was posted some time ago in another thread it does describe what appears to be a "sock ration" that OLETROOP posted on the US MRE thread some months ago. There are some similarities but they don't show a photo like the other rations.
When I have the time I'll look at the 1970's one.
