Buyer beware? Sorry, I really had hoped they had it all sorted out, and had stayed out of this whole thing, as my opinion is somewhat known, and I had been placated, but it's unsurprising to me honestly. First and foremost, he's a businessman. If you want to make it more of an issue, make sure and put mredepot.com every time you reference it so that when people type that in to check references this site gets more google pageranks.

With the new Google Wiki you can make notes about the site so everyone can see.

So in a way Justice will always prevail.

You may have noticed those new icons next to search results.

You need to set up a Google account to see Wiki search results.

That's cool - I had noticed the new icons but I didn't realize you could comment on the search findings.

As for justice always prevailing, because it's an open wiki and anyone can comment about anything, how do we know a negative comment is from a truly dissatisfied customer vs. a competitor trying to give them a bad name?

Good Point!

We'll have to see how that plays out over time.

In the meantime. Here's how to comment. Feel free to post away for everyone to see.

Thats why ebay sucks now with their feedback system.. you can use it to hold people hostage. I don't really agree with things like this, but otoh, it's nice to be able to give some full reviews to some sites that deserve them. I went to this Transylvanian restaurant in Austin a while back, and I gave it a bad review on one of the city search sites, but it would be nice if everyone who googles it could see that it sucks.

E-Bay

Post by jfko6 » Sat Nov 29, 2008 3:18 am

I did a whole write up about the E-Bay feedback system not too long ago. There have been some improvements now that sellers can't leave negative feedback and black mail you into removing honest feedback which did happen to me once. I would not give into the sellers demands. I complained to E-Bay but to no avail.

But anyway, what could be done is post a link to this thread on Google Wiki. In this case, it would be justified.

I believe that truth and justice always prevail in the long run.

Trying to underscore your competition through unscrupulous means is never a good business policy, anyway.

Somehow, with the current situation in our economy we've seen enough scrupulous business men get away with murder.
AIG execs taking a vacation on the tax payer dollar while their company is going down the tubes, Enron and other deviant business transactions on Wall Street; Billions in bailout; Enough is enough already.

Personally, I had a one on one experience; A similar situation which may not have been widely reported in the news was Polaroid Corporation. While the execs just screwed their employees out of compensation and removed all their medical benefits one of the execs. gets on the phone with me (because he needed an important service that he could not do without) and tries to use a lie tactic to avoid paying money they owed. I would not let him get away with that and told him straight out. It did have the effect of shutting his stupid ass up.

So unless someone has got their head between their legs they should be able to reasonably tell between a good and honest Wiki Post and a not so honest post. Surely that's not the only source out there so I would not fret about it.

Now that there are these new tools available, use them.

..To catch you up to the saga : Mr. Cyros responded to my letter to him with an email back to me. He was gracious and far exceeded my expectations. HE MADE IT RIGHT. Righter than right. I would not hesitate to do business with him again. Oh, and his supplier has improved, but not to the point he won't be watched like a hawk. As we go deeper into economic hard times ( and I think they will be much worse ) , it makes me sleep better at night to have some reserved food in safe and durable packages. I hope these companies survive the hard times ahead. I hope we all do. :)

Interestingly enough even after all this mredepot continues to sell the menu C mre's and the inaccurate menu listing remains posted on their website.
I googled menu C before ordering the two cases I have but I unfortunately did not find this thread at that time.. These are not worth the extra money I paid and it is likely the regular A & B mre's are better to boot.

Seems I've fallen victim of the Menu C MRE curse as well...

I just received a case of Menu C's a couple of weeks ago... The shipping was a bit of a killer as I live in PA. They were packed on 1/16/2008

Anyway, here are the menus (based on what is printed on the bags):
1] Chicken Pesto Pasta
2] Chicken Breast with Rib Meat
3] Chicken with Dumplings
4] Beef Stew with Veggies
5] Spaghetti with Meat ABD Sauce
6] Chicken with Noodles
7] Chicken with Salsa
8] Beet Patty with BBQ Sauce
9] Beef Enchiladas
10] Meatballs in Marinara
11] Beef Roast with Vegetables
12] Chicken Cavatelli

Well, I was out and about and took Menu #8 with me. When I finally sat down to eat, I was extreemly disappointed with the contents:

I have bolded those items which do not match with the Menu 8 listed on both sites:

Flame Broiled Beef Patty (200 cal)
Mexican Style Corn (150 cal) - Substitution for ?
Apple Jelly (70 cal)
Crackers (180 cal)
Shortbread cookie (210 cal) - Substitution for Fig Bar?
Fig Bars - Missing
Chocolate Sports Bar - Missing
BBQ Sauce - Missing (this one hurt as the Beef Patty really could use the extra taste)
Raisins - Missing
Beverage Powder, Carbo Electrolyte Lemon-Lime (90 cal)
Accessory Pack A (45 cal)

All of that adds up to only 945 cals. A far cry from the calories they are advertising on their site. I understand substitutions, but this is just plain fraud at this point. I am fearful for what I will find in the other packs.

Luckily I wasn't depending on the extra calories when I ate this. Does anyone have direct contact info for the seller or thoughts on how I should proceed?
