LRP and MCW are one in the same?

I'm beginning to think that the only difference is in the name and in the color of the bag, the contents and even the menus are the same.

You've got it right. The DSCP even makes them share a webpage:
Meal, Cold Weather/Long Range Patrol (MCW/LRP)
http://www.dscp.dla.mil/subs/rations/pr ... mcwabt.asp
The only difference is the bag color.

Wow, so that's why I was told they were still in production. I was asking a pretty dumb question.kman wrote:You've got it right. The DSCP even makes them share a webpage:

Just read that link I posted. They say right there in the first paragraph under "What is it?":fdsman wrote:So I'll rephrase that. Do they still make the MCW, or just the LRP?
They're both current rations. They still make them. The only difference between them is the bag color.Meal, Cold Weather/Long Range Patrol (MCW/LRP)
The MCW is packaged in a white camouflage pouch similar to the RCW. [...] The LRP is packaged in a tan camouflage menu pouch similar to the current MRE.
Ok, now I understand. At first it didn't make any since to me, why we would still be making cold weather rations when they are not really a big demand.kman wrote:Just read that link I posted.
