Mechanized or walk?

If I had to walk, I would take a German EPa leicht with me. Its enough (freeze dried) food for 4 soldiers 3 meals a day or 1 soldier for 4 days. It will be similar in weight and space as approx. 3-4 MRE´s. All you nedd is (enough) water but I guess it´s easier to find/get water there than anything else to eat - if you don´t prefer "bark of a tree spaghetti" also :D

But I don´t have to walk - I can take a whole case of MRE´s with me... :D
Hey Housil!

I will be walking to my site and will stay on foot for the duration of the trip and yeah I am definitely including a bunch of EPA items to my ration pack. Kman and I just did a recent trade and he graciously sent me a few EPA's and I'm looking forward to actually getting to use them soon! But, I can not find any EPA leicht's around here or on EBAY and believe me I've been looking for a few months now LOL. And I would love to have a few EPA leicht's!!! 8)

And Housil...I gotta say that I'm so jealous of you and your collection of German military gear, your awesome vehicles and the stunningly beautiful location that you live in. I really do miss everything about Germany  lol

Oh and by the way...yeah I noticed that case of mre's on the back seat of your truck from the pictures that you posted...again all that makes me feel is intense jealousy....lucky bastard LOL:twisted: 8)

Housil any suggestions on where to get the EPA leichts?

Thanks

Mike

And I watched all the episodes of Survivor Man and Bear's show so, that makes me a expert in survival so, really I should be fine no matter what...LMFAO

And that other list that you were talking about would be greatly appreciated when you get the chance to send it over my way!

Thanks again MCIera...you old fart LOL

LMFAO!!!!!!!!! Yeah I saw that video too. Read the disclaimers that they show on the screen right before the show starts...it pretty much says sometimes Bear and the crew are put into mock situations to show survival techniques...ummm...yeah :?

Also if you dig further into Bears history you'll find that he was indeed in the SAS but he was part of the "B" squad which are newer guys who are pretty much still in training and the "A" squad are the bad ass Brits that do all the missions. Saying that, I cannot confirm or deny this statement but, this is what I've read from the internet so who know it could be all bogus. All in all I still have a great amount of respect for Bear and his skills. I don't care what you say about the man but, most of us who talk shit on the guy couldn't even make it through basic training, let alone SAS training, or break your back from a helicopter parachute accident, recover and do it again, survive in the jungle, desert and etc.

So, Bear is still someone I look up too....but that video didn't help LOL

They are (sometimes) avialable on Ebay German (Item# 160253728285, this is mreheater 72), or ask German_EPA. He is an official dealer of Travellunch (civilain name of EPa leicht).
But postage will cost you an arm and leg from here to US...

When i "field strip" my rations into 24 hour packs, i get a one gallon ziplock bag, and then i put in: 4 entrees, 4 crackers, with peanut butter or jam. 2 or 3 drink mixes, and som little extras like jolly ranchers, or trail mix. sometimes if it's gonna be a cold weather hump, I'll fatten out my meal load. Just remember that water is your most critical need out there.....

Back on topic, I made up some kids meals with wheat snack bread, peanut butter, jelly, dairy shake, paper napkin, plastic knife, handi wipe. I wanted to use the shelf stable roll but kept getting outbid on ebay. Packed it all up in a foodsaver bag and vacuum sealed it.
