IKE's Aftermath

Post by jfko6 » Mon Sep 15, 2008 7:59 am

U.S. Army troops doled out ice, food and other neccessary supplies to residents of Galvenston, TX. The mayor of Galveston says there's no power, gas or communication and, for now, people should stay away. (Sept. 14)

Post by jfko6 » Mon Sep 15, 2008 12:26 pm

Breaking news on energy crisis. This comes after of a weekend of uncertainty for Wall Street: a failed investment bank Lehman Brothers, a bank merger for Merril Lynch and uncertainty about the rescue and recovery efforts in Texas.

not one to pick on forum members, but dave, you have certainly earned your dangerous name.

i hope you have good insurance, especially a good liability policy. by "backfeeding" your genie into your dryer circuit, you run the risk of electrocuting any lineman working on the power lines near your home once the power comes back on.

PAY an electrician to install a transfer switch on your electrical panel for you to plug your genie into OR plug the appliances directly into the outlets on your genie.

i also suggest you don't run the genie in your kitchen or garage (j/k. i doubt you'd do something that stoopid)

Now This. What's next.

Bad news. AIG has already been convicted of fraud in the past.

Deckard, you half right. As long as you turn off the power companys' master switch on your house, it's impossible for a backfeed current to go up into the lines, when back-feeding from a generator. If your master switch is open, yea, you could knock a lineman off a pole 2 miles down the road. :!:

I'm splitting this topic. Please keep talking about Hurricane Ike here but let's move the market crash discussion here:
