Wow, it does sound interesting. Oh how we would have loved to be Norge when he was 14  eating MRE for months.

To Bishop: sounds good, I hope you will succeed and have a pleasant month. Keeps us informed.

Kind regards, Nawt

the shortbread cookies go bad fast since its
a lot of butter in them, and since butter and heat dont
match good they go real stall fast.
not dangerus to eat but not inviting...

keep up the good diet :D

I never could figure out what it was with those shortbread cookies. I stood there smelling them for about 10 minutes but couldn't nail what was so bad. Something was bad, that's for sure.

We really need to get that scratch'n'sniff feature added to the forums. :-)

had to cancel the mre diet due to issue that came up that prevented me from finishing. i will start over again i am determined to do it. i read kmans 7 day adventure. i read the story about the guy doing it on imp's. so i will have to do it with mre's. when i do i am going to document it each day and i will post the results in better details. i can say the few days i did do it it was not that bad. i was kind of hungry though. so when i start over it will be one full mre per day. plus i will dip into my leftover extras when extremely hungry. i need to drop 15 pounds to get ready for a basketball tournament i am playing in this october.

Sorry to hear you had to cut it short. I've got a three week window coming up in October where I might be able to do the MRE diet thing again. I'm not sure if I'll do the whole three weeks or just another week or any weeks at all.

I also got MRE's from kman and used them to train some friends I'm going camping with what to do TEOTWAWKI. all seemed good except the afore mentioned cookies. they smelled like paint thinner, not "some kind of sour". that said I noticed a ton of food allergy risks with the people I was training, mushrooms, nuts others. what happens in the army with soldiers with food allergies? especially as the guy allergic to shooms got "beef with vegetables" and the vegies turned out to be 50% shrooms. how do I stock MRE's for these guys for emergency use without killing somebody?

BTW thanks for all your help Kman the MRE's were otherwise just what the doctor ordered.

Why wasting MRE´s on dieting? Come to our canteen - and you will lose more weight than you intended to...

That's a good question, Mors. The short answer for how you stock MREs for someone with food allergies is...carefully. At least as a civilian you have a number of alternatives for where to buy MREs and MRE parts and pieces. It'll take a lot more work and probably extra money, but I'm sure you can put together some "safe" MREs.

As for how they do it in the military for soldiers with food allergies, I have no idea. Maybe one of the other guys here who served saw someone like this when they were in and can tell us about it.
