It has happened before in other wars. I heard of stories of nazi gold, gems, jewlery....
It happened in the First Gulf war and Is still happening now in Iraq.... They caught and court martialed the small fish.....but What about the higher ups???The officers, politicians, bureaucrats, private contractors and iraqi exiles that stole millions    ????? C'mon.....
That's hipocrisy......
But sadly that's war...... 8)

My granpa used to tell me of stories of that...One time they went in in what he called a "castle" and liberated or occupied it...including jewlery, old coins, silver medallions...etc. plenty of valuables that came back as "war trophies"....
