MRE Menu C ... getem' while they last

Post by thechip1 » Mon May 19, 2008 7:46 pm

Gentlemen (I use that term loosely)

I thought everyone would like to know that in talking to Steven at MREDepot today, he said they are down to less than one weeks worth of Menu C's. He also said that while he has an order in for two more railcars worth of 2008 Menu C's, he is having trouble getting it filled. (He figures with war, and now humanitarian needs, he is in for a wait.) So if anyone wants any, this may be the last chance for a little while.

He seems like a real nice guy. He got my order off within an hour of my paypaling it.

Thought you'd like to know.

I'm sure they'll figure something out. They are averaging $70-80+ a case on ebay, not including shipping. :?

That is what they are getting on ebay. Oh well, its a free market. To be fair their starting bids & shipping are very low. The 2009 & 2010 case prices in general have all gone up. Shipping as well. I think all the talk of food shortages and earthquakes is driving up the prices as usual.

Marketing ploy for sure. Sure Pak's and Longlifefood.Com are just as good.

I haven't actually gotten them yet, but I thought I'd try them since they seem to have more items in each ration. I typically share one with two of my sons (5 and 7) while we are hiking, so one MRE tends to be kind of light for the three of us. But havin said that, some of the items don't seem that useful, such as the BBQ sauce in virtually all the menus, including the omlet I think! (I'll have to check that one to be sure, but it doesn't sound very good.)

I get the feeling that with the way fuel prices are rising, it's going to start getting pretty expensive to ship MREs anywhere. :-(

JFK06,
I agree Long Life Food Depot MRE's and parts are quite good, it's just the way they ship them to your residence that gets me torqued.

Just a notice to everyone, despite the US Postal Service prices; they are still the cheapest, probabaly safest way to ship anything here or abroad. The other shipping services may seem inexpensive but wait until they ding you with other so called fees. Total rip off. LLF Depot uses UPS and the shipping nearly blew me away when I just order a small amount the other day. :x

Treesuit - I thought the cost of shipping was included in the prices at LLF. Did they change that?
