Basic Food Safety (FHMCC200S)

Mass Care at national headquarters has contracted with FoodHandler, Inc., to provide online safe food handling training for American Red Cross Mass Care workers. This Basic Food Safety self-study course takes about 60 minutes to complete and includes a 20-question quiz at the end. Participants who successfully complete the quiz with a score of 70 percent or better can print out a completion certificate for their records. The course is available in both English and Spanish.

This course should be taken by all Mass Care Feeding workers if they do not already have more advanced training. It will provide a general foundation for safe food handling practices. It includes subjects such as person hygiene, times and temperatures and cross contamination.

IMPORTANT:

After you have successfully completed the Basic Food Safety online self-study, you should present the certificate of completion to Disaster Training disastertraining@nyredcross.org. You should also take a copy to the chapter DSHR administrator to have it added to your DSHR record.

"5. Enter your DSHR number as your User ID. Next you will need to create your unique Password. The User ID and Password must be at least 6 characters and can include letter and numbers. "

Without a DSHR (Disaster Services Human Resources) number, it does not look like you will be able to take this training. Only recognized Red Cross Disaster volunteers can get these numbers. If you can figure a way around this, go for it.
