Re: 2001 mfr MRE menu 18 Turkey Breast with gravy and Potatoes

Thanks for the review. Interesting to hear that coffee didn't last. A few folks have posted pics of the Tasters Choice with mold growing on it, but the coffee in my '96 MREs was just fine, and one of the only edible (or drinkable) components of the MRE.

Re: 1996 Menu 9 - Pork Chow Mein

Like the pound cake, I was stoked to try the chocolate covered cookie. It looked and smelled great. Too bad it didn't taste great. I think the oils in the chocolate went rancid or something. I was actually forced to spit this out. IMG_1767.JPG IMG_1770.JPG The chow mein noodles were fine- tasted ok ...

1996 Menu 9 - Pork Chow Mein

This is the last 1996 MRE I'll review - I'm saving the 4th - Menu 10, the Chili with Macaroni - as a collectible. The menu: Pork Chow Mein Chow Mein Noodles Choc Covered Cookie Peanut Butter Candy (3) Beverage Base w/sugar Packet A - coffee cream sub sugar salt gum matches tissue towelette IMG_1755....

Re: 1996 Menu 2 - Tuna With Noodles

The mixed fruit didn't hold up much better. IMG_1742.JPG And finally we come to the entrée, Tuna with Noodles IMG_1744.JPG No, I didn't taste it. I mean, look at it. I know some of you would have, but given the appearance, its age, and the fact that the first time I ever got food poisoning was from ...

1996 Menu 2 - Tuna With Noodles

I decided to continue to make my way through the 4 pack of 1996 I purchased. After reviewing the Beef Frankfurters - http://www.mreinfo.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=7314 - I next selected the entrée I thought would be least likely to hold up over 20 years - the Tuna with Noodles. Re: Your recording setup, camera, editing software

I'm glad this thread was started, I was wondering how all of you recorded your reviews. For some reason I was imagining folks wearing GoPros strapped to their heads, although I guess that would have resulted in a video that was shaky and jumpy - kind of like the movie Blair Witch Project , but with ...

MRE Cups

Watching Synthpeter 's recent review of the 2010 Menu 11 vegetable lasagna, I was reminded of some old discussion about the hot beverage bags. Let's face it, these are light, but not very convenient to use. Does anyone have any insight as to why the military doesn't spec out a collapsible cup? They ...

Good Review. The anthems and flags are a nice touch.

Re: Long-term health impact of repeated/extended consumption

Similar topics have been discussed in earlier threads. I don't think you're going to find reports or studies on occasionally eating rations, because they weren't meant to be used that way. Eating them as the sole or main part of your diet for greater than 4 to 5 weeks is not recommended due to the h...

Re: Steve1989 Does it Again!

That's cool. I sent this to others in my family who think I've lost a few screws with the MRE thing. Haha, jokes on them, it's a "thing" now. I'm in the same boat, but I'm wearing them down. The other day I convinced my daughter to try the crackers in my 1996 Tuna and Noodles MRE. Now she thinks it...
