The 2014 Canadian IMP that almost killed me

I've been eyeing the 2014 Canadian IMP that I had on my shelf, and finally couldn't resist opening it. What followed was truly a roller coaster of an experience. The IMP had a great variety of contents. Overall it was better in terms of variety, flavor and freshness (with one exception as you will s...

Re: 2012 Halal meal

I've had the same experience, especially with the side items in them that tend to non-trilaminate. I've never seen a Halal pudding look quite like that though, even at five years. Heat stressed? I guess that is the likely explanation. I only owned it for a couple of months and kept it in the cellar...

Re: Ration Reviewer or Critic??

I agree with the general sentiment on this thread - reviewing is much more valuable than rating or critiquing for a variety of reasons. I may react negatively or positively to a ration or ration component, but I try to put it into the perspective of either freshness or my preferred tastes. I think a...

Hey housil. I read this recipe of yours a few weeks ago, and made it for the family this past week. It was great, thanks for the idea!

Re: US MRE Menu 7 Beef Brisket in Gravy

Nice review! I have a menu 7 beef brisket MRE that I'm saving for a hiking/camping trip, so it was cool to see what I have to look forward to.

Re: 2012 Halal meal

I tried the cinnamon sugar cookies next. These were very good, not stale at all, and no off tastes. IMG_1859.JPG The vanilla pudding was - strange. It was thick enough to be more like icing than pudding, and it had big chunks of crystallized sugar or pudding that crunched as I ate it. IMG_1858.JPG T...

2012 Halal meal

I acquired a 2012 Halal meal and opened it up last week. Nearly all the ingredients had "turned' or were less than fresh, despite being "only" 5 years old. I think that this was due to the nature of Halal meals themselves and how they are packaged. Any expert input from you folks is appreciated. IMG...

Re: US MRE 2012 #5 CHICKEN WITH TOMATO AND FETA CHEESE

That First Strike chocolate energy bar looks just like the chocolate sports bar I had in my 2012 LRP ration. IMG_1899.JPG IMG_1898.JPG I think the chocolate bar looks and tastes weird because it is flour free (gluten free) according to the ingredients listed on my package. I think its not so much th...
