Nice review failsafe!
I share your passion for MRE's, and look forward to reading more reviews, and posting more reviews as well. I haven't tried this menu yet, but I know I've got one or two in my stock, so I'll have to pull it out for my next sack (or tan bag) lunch!

Re: A Tale of Two TOTMs
Thanks for sharing! Wow, that is kind of surprising that there aren't more stringent specs for putting those together, especially when one of the primary goals is to keep calories down since they don't need the full punch an MRE packs. I'm sure it would've made the person's day drawing the loaded on...

Re: 1999 White Bread, Shelf-Stable
Thanks! I've enjoyed reading your reviews as well. The bread would certainly be a nice addition to supplement the UGR's. I wonder when they started producing the shelf-stable bread? I had never seen it prior to picking these up in 2000, but at that point in time I guess I wasn't actively looking eit...

Re: Buying International Military Rations
That does help shufticush, thanks! If you are interested in Russian military rations, I have had excellent results with Mihail from Moscow. I have ordered 3 times from him in the past and have had no issues with getting the items from there to Michigan. His handle here is Onepamop. Hope this helps.

Re: 1999 White Bread, Shelf-Stable
Thanks Norton! I agree that it certainly is a nice addition to many of the menus. I'm just now getting through my older stock, so I haven't had one with the cornbread or biscuits yet, but I'm looking forward to it. Great idea about warming the bread, and the cobbler idea is something I'm going to ha...

Re: Buying International MREs
Hi! I'm trying to do the same. This website and the forums are amazing. I've really been bitten by the ration bug in the past year and am slowly starting my collection. I've also been reading as much as I can on the topic "Combat Ready Kitchen", etc. Good luck in your ration hunt! I'm new to this fo...

Re: Heating MREs in hot water
I've always had great luck heating the bags by boiling, and have never had one swell or rupture. It's my preferred method as well. To spotty using the FRH.

Re: Buying International Military Rations
I would love to get my hands on a British 24-hr ration pack or two, and would be willing to trade current US MRE's or purchase w/PayPal as well. I would also be interested in French or German Rations. They pop up on eBay from time to time, but they usually want an arm and a leg for shipping.

Re: MRE Menus VI 1986 Menu 7 diced Turkey
Nice review Norton. I love reading the reviews of the 80's MREs, brings back many memories of stopping at the local surplus store or bumming a few from the local national guard recruiter. My buddies and I would take them camping and devour them. I remember the maple nut cake well, it was quite good....

Re: Pork Pattie 86' review
Good review! I remember the dehydrated pork patty well. I know they always preached at BMT to not eat it dry, I still preferred it dry rather than reconstituted. I kind of miss this entree, as I don't think I've had one since the early 90's.
