Re: 2019 Menu #5 Chicken Chunks
Note: the first one was from Ameriqual. In the Commissary the other day, I bought another Menu #5 from Wornick. I look forward to seeing if there are any differences in contents or quality.

2019 Menu #5 Chicken Chunks
This is a great meal. It's one of only two that comes with no FRH and is intended to be eaten cold. There's a large portion of genuine chicken chunks, all juicy white meat and not "formed from paste". It comes with tortillas, cheese packet, and BBQ sauce. The BBQ sauce seems an odd choice, but it wo...

Chicken Burrito Bowl TOTM
Broke out my newest TOTM for a fishing trip this week. I usually go through older stock first, but I was really curious about this meal, so... This TOTM came packed. Main, pretzels, Cheez-its, cappuchino drink, applesauce, M&Ms and the usual accessories. I ate only the main and the Cheez-its because...

Re: How Would You Improve MRE's?
In some respects, it's a generational thing. I'm only a bit away from being an official fossil, but my generation was and is based on meat and potatoes. Today's little schitz seem to eat nothing but junk food. So maybe that's why rations meant for today's generation contain a bunch of junk food - be...

Re: Been waiting a long time....
My local base commissary carries new issue MREs and TOTMs, but that's all. No FSRs or MCWs. I could probably find them online - at robbery prices, but why? I can get Mountain House entrees almost anywhere and have essentially the same thing.

Not that rare? I've never even seen one. If I ever do, my Swedish military stove will get used.

Creamy Spinach Fettucini TOTM
Found one of these in my storage and took it out on my boat for a fishing lunch. This entree is now discontinued because not many people liked it. I'm glad this was my last one because while I didn't hate it, it isn't very good. Visually, it's just awful - green goop with noodles pretty much describ...

Re: 2019 TOTM
I think TOTMs are just about the right size for a non-combat hot lunch. I've eaten a lot of them while fishing, even in the tight confines of a kayak. And you can't beat the price. My continuing peeve is the coffee. Why? there is never a bev bag in a TOTM, so there's no way to fix coffee. They put b...

Re: Polish SR menu #6
Coincidentally, I just finished that same ration. I had eaten the main some time ago and took the remainder of the goodies on this week's fishing trip for my boat lunch. The chicken and pork was indeed excellent (those Poles REALLY understand pork!) and I enjoyed my first taste of "Tank tread" hardt...

Re: Why’d they ruin the cheese spread (1.5oz to 1oz)
The reason is that - despite lip service to the contrary - taste and soldier satisfaction have little to no priority in NATICK's menu/food selection. Their only goals are the carb/protein ratio and calorie count. Period.
