Does it retain any caffeine zip?
It might not taste the greatest, but I expect it would done the job back in the day as far as maintaining alertness.

I actually liked them, filling, nutritious, and some candy for dessert. And they had smokes. What else d...

WW2 Coffee...
I don't think there is a backstory. The front story is instant coffee tastes like scheisse, and Italy is a place known for coffee. Someone in Italy acquired these cases in 1944, maybe in trade heavily discounted and they sat, because they didn't want to drink it. Who would? Better than no coffee at ...

Marines Posing With Their Meals
Yeah, they look pretty happy with their food. Must not have been too unwelcome.
The way I heard it, "Former" Marine is just fine, just don't say "Ex-Marine".

Marines With Their Meals?
Steve, is there any information as to the branch or unit, location and date? I'm thinking maybe these are Marines, possibly due to uniform type and style of wear, but I'm not really sure. I can say it is important not to call Marines "Soldiers", while this might be technically true, they seem to hav...

Interesting and thanks for sharing. Any idea how or where it was stored, must have been under controlled conditions. I noticed they believed 5 grams of freeze dried coffee made a cup. It's less than half of that now, and no ciggies. No wonder they can't make their recruiting quotas.
