Re: MRE Heaven
I went to the Commissary today and checked prices. Full MREs are $9.81 each and $117.72 per case. TOTMs were $4.75 each and $57/case.

Re: MRE Heaven
Rob, I have not bought one in a while, but I think that the last time I looked, the price in my local commissary was something like $9.72 each for an MRE and five-something for a TOTM.

Re: MRE40 - Italian Sausage
I obviously can't know that. But, if they are current issue and under $110, there's something not kosher.

Re: MRE40 - Italian Sausage
$100 a case is less than the price from a military commissary now. If you're getting MREs for less than that, they are either old or stolen.

Re: FRH: To Salt or Not To Salt: That is the question.
In my demonstration, I was using food items generously donated to me that day, and I didn't want to be greedy. On my own, I usually do heat two items with the FRH sandwiched between. The purpose of the demonstration was how to best use an FRH, and I hope that came across. (Even after the cleanup and...

Re: MRE40 - Italian Sausage
I've had the entree, not the whole MRE. Entree is dang good. This one's a keeper in my book.

Re: MRE Comparisons
Some time ago, I reviewed two TOTMs with very different contents. It's down in "Other Ration Reviews" someplace.
Edit: Found it. Back in 2015 I wrote this: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=5813&hilit=tale+of+two+totms

Re: FRH: To Salt or Not To Salt: That is the question.
Yes, I pre-emptively add a bit of pre-mixed salt brine to the water every time I use an FRH. It can't hurt, it very often helps, and if the FRH is so degraded that even added salt won't help, you'll know it within seconds. As you may have noticed in the lecture, I use an old Visine bottle, which is ...

Re: Oldsmokey's History Channel TV Show!
Last week was one new, one repeat. So is tonight's, if I read correctly. I will be there for both.
