Re: Does MRE filed stripping decrease its shelf life?

just wanted to ring in, as my screen name implies I do QA with the Army subsitance program... I believe the word is "sustenance"...not "subsitance". No offense meant, but when you claim to be someone who works with/for the military in a specific program...maybe it would help if you spelled the word...

Re: Mountain House Wraps filling

Good review, Treesuit! I've never seen the MH Chicken Salad Wrap before. I've tried all the others, though.

Out of the four I've tried, my favorites are the Breakfast Skillet Wrap and the Buffalo Chicken Wrap. I didn't care for the BBQ Beef or the Mexican Beef.

Re: Looks like new FSR's are on the way!

For all to keep in mind, also... The folks developing rations don't have a very easy job. It's a tricky balancing act. They have to find/develop foods that have the right balance of nutrition (protien, fat, carbs, vitamins & minerals)...it has to have a decent "shelf-life" and must retain it's nutri...

Looks like new FSR's are on the way!

I came across this info recently...sorry if it's old news to everybody here. Looks like they're currently testing/evaluating new First Strike Ration menus, which will be released soon. They're increasing from the current 3 menus to at least 9. Here's the PDF files with the info... http://www.militar...

Old El Paso Tortilla Stuffers-sounds pretty good!

There's supposed to be some new shelf-stable "complete meal" products due out soon from Old El Paso. They don't sound too bad! I've heard that some Walmart Superstores are already carrying them, which is strange because the linked news report below says they're due out at the end of March. Here's th...

Source for First Strike Bars?

Anyone know where to get them? I got a couple dozen of the chocolate ones when TheEpicenter had them in stock a while back, but they're out of them now and I can't find any other place that sells them. I know there's a couple different flavors, but I prefer the chocolate ones...they remind me of gia...

Re: 2011 Menu 17 entree: Pork Sausage with Cream Gravy

Thanks, Treesuit! It's good to see the gravy and the biscuits together! (as they should be!) 8) If I would have had any biscuits at the time, I definitely would have used them instead of regular old toast. I think the dense biscuits would help to "thicken up" the gravy a bit, since the entree seems ...

Re: 2011 Menu 17 entree: Pork Sausage with Cream Gravy

Thanks for the review! Looks like this would be a good mate for the WSB. Now if only we can get Natick to do an SOS entree. If it's as peppery as you describe, then I'm definitely gonna get some of these. Whether you call it sawmill, white, sausage, or country gravy, IMO you gotta have a good dose ...

2011 Menu 17 entree: Pork Sausage with Cream Gravy

Here's a quick review I wanted to do for one of the newest MRE entrees. I believe it is offered as part of the 2011 menu 17. Sorry for the poor pictures. I picked this up from the Epicenter.com. Since biscuits and sausage gravy are a breakfast staple here in the Southern United States, I thought thi...

What's YOUR current favorite MRE entree?

Just wondering...I like to ask everybody I know who eats MRE's the same question. :?: What's your current favorite MRE entree? For now, let's limit this to current production menu items, whether it's genuine U.S. issue, or civilian version (Sopako, Wornick, Amerqual, etc.) If you have a hard time ju...
