Re: Best and Worst MREs
MREs The good: - Beef stew is actually genuinely good, as is chilli and macaroni. The beef patty is a bit meh, would have been ok if my frh had worked properly. Re: British WW 2 Beer ration?
'To have a Brew' in British slang means to have some tea.
The can could be consended milk or something else they are having with it, but probably not beer, I've certainly never heard of it being available in the 1940s in cans!

Re: Unknown Polish ration
Some of my friends who have a lot of family from Germany made something similar once, I'll have to get their recipe
I had one of those Polish rations once, it was just like 3 of the smaller meals rolled into one.

I'm with Housil on this one, I ate a 2003 MRE just the other day, the contents seemed pretty much fine.

Re: Russian Army Ration
OK, so, the long awaited part 2 My next dinner was meatballs: IMG_20131220_191113.jpg There was also pate, pork fat, apple sauce and crackers, and something special to drink: IMG_20131220_192846.jpg Anyway to the meal. The pate was as you might expect from any canned pate, pleasant enough and good w...

Re: Russian Army Ration
Well from what I've read, the USSR didn't actually produce many specialised combat rations, mainly because of their military doctrine. In the event of war with NATO, soviet divisions would only be supplied with ammunition. Their vehicles were designed to carry enough fuel to reach their objectives b...
