Re: Troops in Iraq allowed beer for Super Bowl

I remember Saturday night at sea with the USN - pizza and 'near beer'. No matter what the advertisements say, it never tastes like real beer, so this is a definite improvement. I'd say they've earned a cold one. I wonder if this news suggests a reduction in the perceived level of threat to US forces?

Re: New British 24-hour ration pack

method of determining range=laser range finder, tape mesure. made out by=color sgt green. I know what those things mean. I was asking a rhetorical question: why would such words be printed on the box if it wasn't intended as a range card? when training with the royal marines i have never ever seen a...

Re: Hormel Compleats

In case any of you are interested, my local supermarket here in Australia now sells Compleats. I haven't tried one yet. FYI, we also get the Stagg chili here. I prefer their 'Lite' chili - I found the regular version a little too fatty for my palate. The taste is OK but I still need to add Tabasco.

Re: New British 24-hour ration pack

I see a Union Jack flag on the box, the target has disapeared too, well I guess the boys there have enough occasions to practise shooting, they don't need cardboard targets It's a fairly common misconception that the concentric circles printed on British ration boxes are targets, and I'm not saying...

Re: Chewing gum

As far as US gum goes, I like 'Big Red' and I sometimes buy a pack from an import store here in Melbourne. I seem to remember a 'Trident' lemon-mint flavour that was really good, but I've never seen it on sale here. My all-time favourite is 'Extra' apple flavour, but they appear to be phasing it out...
