Re: Estate Sale Purchase - Late 80's Prepper
SI Equipment might have been an early name of what is now Major Surplus and Survival which has for been in buisness in the Carson/ Gardena area for years. They do mail order and operated out of a variety of open to the public warehouses in the area. The have sold MRE components by the case or in sin...

Re: Strange K Ration
I'll bet its a reproduction for re-enactors to eat while playing war, whoops I mean re-enacting  . The original dextrose tablets are square right? The modern equivalent are the round Survival Tabs, or Horlicks Malties candies. The rest of the items look like modern equivalents for the original...

Are Russian rations ok to eat?
I've seen various Russian rations on Amazon listed as being fulfilled by Amazon. Does that mean they have been approved for import to they U.S.? What do you guys think about the safety of these rations?

Market Street Classics Chili
Here's some civilian chill made by Ameriqual. It is given as food assistance to the elderly, unemployed etc. Google Market Street classics for the website which markets it for other uses. Youtube also has a video of a ration similar to the A-pack but labeled as Market Street Classics. Its a very bla...

Re: Survival Ration Packet GP 2013
A great find! I'm a fan of those rations. It looks like they wanted to have something that met the original specs for the ration or close to it. I have had some of the old ones that had a mint bar that was really just a solid bar of certs candy. It was alot of minty candy to eat in one sitting and d...

Re: MRE-like Retort Pouches in Your Local Grocery Store
Did you see my post? http://www.mreinfo.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=6365 those were from a Target Store. Some of the Asian food markets occasionally will have some kind of food in a retort package. Often a variety of grains are sold in vacuum sealed packages with oxygen absorbers. French canned ...

Re: Looking for hardtack sources
It seems like Bents is the only bakery producing hardtack. I think that most civil war re-enactors or other living history types make their own. Jas Townsend and Son is also another good source for period info and food. Search youtube for: Ship's Bisket - Hard Tack: 18th Century Breads, Part 1. S2E1...
