Re: Like Bacon, potatoes and old cheddar?

You know what?
I'm going to watch the video a couple of times, at least. Get the recipe written down, and any temperatures, measurements etc. converted to metric if they aren't already.

Re: Like Bacon, potatoes and old cheddar?

You are evil. Now I'm hungry for bacon, and I don't have any.

But one serving only of this? Heh, no chance. I'd probably eat two. It's got two of my favorites in it: bacon and potatoes.
And I'd have it with a bit more veggies on the side than shown in the video.

Re: What to include in homemade/DIY MREs?

It does help, thank you. I'll see what I can find from that list in my local stores. Besides the instant noodles, instant soups, and instant coffee. I know I can find those easily in the stores in the shopping center that's literally a 5 minute walk from where I live. (former boy scout myself, I kno...

Re: What to include in homemade/DIY MREs?

The .gov that’s who. Never had combo pretzels, pretzel sticks, patriot cookies, etc. in an MRE? Nope. The only MREs I've ever had was when I was 14 years old, back in 1997. Those were Royal Danish Army MREs. There were no pretzels, cookies, or similar in them. There was, however, hard candies, chew...

Re: What to include in homemade/DIY MREs?

Who the [censored] packs crisps/chips as a snack in an MRE? That's just asking for trouble.

But the bars (chocolate, nuts, etc.), jerky (when I find one I actually like), etc. will certainly be taken into consideration.

Re: What to include in homemade/DIY MREs?

The freeze dried mains of my homemade MREs will, until such a time where it becomes viable to do at home, be bought pre-made. Something I made clear in the first post, where I quite clearly state that I already know what to do about them. I was specifically asking about what types of snacks to inclu...

Re: What to include in homemade/DIY MREs?

Ah, I haven't heard about Harvest Right before. I'll do some more research on household size freeze driers, etc.

Also, those MREs are for personal use, so I don't have to resort to junk food if I'm at an event, like for example a Nerf war.
I thought that was sort of implied in the first post?

What to include in homemade/DIY MREs?

So, I've been looking at small, household sized, vacuum packing machines lately. For making my own MREs*. I have already planned the main meals, and the hot and cold drinks. But what would be good to add as snacks? Besides the obvious nuts and dried fruits. *I currently have no plans for doing this ...

Speaking of MRE Jesus (Steve), I wonder if he's seen this.
