Re: Minotaur ration of the month club

Tracy Phillips had told me last year that the wet packs prepared by Minotaur didn't hold up as long as military retort pouches. I did an edit of my ration closet and got rid of some sirloin steaks and hamburgers, but kept all the dry snacks and buns, etc. for eventual hiking trips and such. A sirloi...

Re: Full Case BRITISH 24 Hour Cold Climate Ration Packs - £90 free P+P

I hadn't bought rations from Europe since 2018. Bought two French RIEs from MRE Empire a couple months ago thinking the coast was clear. Nope. Both Cassoulet entrees were taken and replaced with a letter from US Customs. If it's not in the US already, I won't buy it.

Re: Meet Up Poll

I belong to a Professional Captains Association and ever since COVID, the meetings have been on Zoom. Doing a Zoom day of MRE's talk may be a more practical way of getting global participation. I think charging some sort of admission fee which could go to a charity will give everyone some skin in th...

Re: Meet Up Poll

I'm in Maryland. Would meet up out "west" in Ohio. That way I can visit Jungle Jim's supermarket. Next April 8, 2024 is a total solar eclipse and I will be on a road trip through its path through Texas to Ohio a few days before and checking out the forecast for clear skies.

Re: Minotaur ration of the month club

The heyday of this part of the ration hobby that got me into it has matured. A lot of people that I subscribe on YT post every couple months now or are reviewing commercial ready to eat food not even related to rations. Ramen, chips and soda, not that there's anything wrong with that. I unsubbed Min...

Re: Anyone want to do another meetup ?

I propose Ashland, VA. Small quaint town just off I-95 north of Richmond. It has a railway running through the town for train fans. You can Google two webcams in either direction of the tracks if you want to get a sense of the place. I'm in Baltimore, so it is semi local for me.

Re: Anyone want to do another meetup ?

I've been meaning to go to Philly and meet up with Sean from the Ration Museum, maybe in the Spring. Lots of great eating up there.

Re: Anyone want to do another meetup ?

Time for one, definitely. This hobby needs a shot in the arm. I live in Md., but will drive as far as Ohio then I can do a pilgrimage to Jungle Jim's.

Re: Augason Farms - Yea or Nay?

Yes, there are a lot of small batch, compared to MH, companies making great product. Stowaway Gourmet and Pinnacle right off the bat. Check out Daves45Auto on YT for reviews of others. Not saying they are cheap, but better than a bucket of beans and rice stored in the basement.
