1946 Army Recipes Manual (PDF Download)

TM 10-412 Army Recipes , 1946 For those interested in military ration recipes, the War Department manual TM 10-412 Army Recipes printed by the War department in 1946 is a wonderful look into the meals prepared for American soldiers in WWII. The material covered in this manual deals primarily with pr...

Re: RCW felt apart

I have an RCW that is currently suffering from the same developing problems. The polymer bonds that make up the package are degrading, and soon will crumble entirely. I am trying to decide if I am going to either sell it, eat it, take it apart and mount it in a shadow box, or what. Not sure at this ...

Re: 1959 MCI Meal, Combat, Individual Case

Thank you. I enjoy finding interesting ways to display the contents of original rations, and this clear box I made worked really well. Here are some photos of a reproduction prototype I made about 5 years before I found an example to add to my collection. Never quite finished it, now that I am think...

Re: 1959 MCI Meal, Combat, Individual Case

Here is my contribution. Aside from the soluble coffee, this meal is a complete mint 1959 production MCI in my collection. Someone years ago had the good foresight to open the M unit which kept it from corroding and ruining anything else.

Re: 1959 MCI Meal, Combat, Individual Case

I was wondering if it was you who nabbed this case! Glad to see you got it. I happen to have a mint condition 1959 produced MCI. I got it off ebay a couple years ago, and have never posted photos of it. I'll have to get some posted here.

Re: Tempted to buy this WW2 Coffee...

I nabbed five of these cans, and they are all in great shape. I plan to open one and keep the contents to consume on special occasions. The opened can, I will replace the bottom of with a plug bottom and use it for reenactments. The other four will remain in my collection untouched. These are certai...

Re: 1957 RCI case and why not a 1955 Ration 5 persons as well

Holy crap, that is painful. Still, some items in there salvageable as patterns and such that can be pulled apart and laid flat without worrying about ruining anything given the condition of that lot. The master case is good though on both, if a bit scuffed. Sorry they turned out that way.

Re: WWII Army Air Corps Flight Combat Lunch

8.5" wide 6.25" high 6.5" deep Although expected, it always surprises me how small this ration stuff is, like a carton holding all that is no bigger than 9" in any dimension. Now, the box material, it looks like pressed fiberboard and not corrugated cardboard. Is it entirely waxed? Is it waxed fibe...

Any idea what the dimensions of the fiberboard box that all is packed in might be?

Re: Collection of ACCESSORY PACKETS from different US Rations

Hey Chowline, I'll save the case, various wrappers, and this specific one photographed for you. Doing my review right now and parting with a few of them potentially next month. Scored a complete RIC to review finally, albeit rough. The ever going joke of that RIC case lives on. Still stored off in ...
