Re: HDRs

I’ve been working my way through a case from this batch this week. Very nice. Better than I remember them from 10 or 12 years ago. My case was prepared by Sopakco, packed in June 2019. All of the meals follow menu B on the lists below, with the exceptions that in every meal the “Fruit Bar” has been ...

Re: Cigarettes in accesory packs

Reading WWII history I have to wonder if we would have won had they not kept our guys supplied with an enormous, steady stream of smokes. As an aside, I'm reading Anthony Beevor's book about the Ardennes offensive now, and he starts by describing the situation between the Normandy invasion and the l...

Re: Whats your favorite item in a mre, any mre that is

The plain crackers are my favorite item. They are the best thing to go with cheese spread, peanut butter, or jam, and you can crumble them up and add to almost any of the mains to make them more filling. Especially good with stews and chili. I've never liked vegetable crackers and I hate the breads....

The Army Quartermaster museum has a large excerpt from that book on it’s website.

The material is from chapter 1 only. What’s in the rest of the book?

Re: WWII Logan Bar - Is it real or fake?

Not calling anyone a liar, but it is very common in militaria collecting circles to claim that something was recently "found in a barn in Normandy" to sex up a sales post for deep-pocketed American buyers.

Yes, 2 ounces and even 1 ounces bars were a real thing.
2 ounces D-Bar + 2 ounces mold:
The mold is fantastic. Thanks for the information.

Re: MRE entree Beef Goulash

Of course there's no accounting for individual tastes, but I ate an Asian Beef main on Friday and enjoyed it.

Only thing it was lacking was hot sauce. I'll never understand why they stopped including it with most of the meals. Would gladly trade all the milkshakes for it to return.

Did Logan Bars even come in a 2 oz. Size?

I've only ever heard of a 4 oz. portion.
