Spouses don't like MREs in pouches...

Well, as my wife said, the difference between civilian MREs in pouches vs. bowls, is that (at least for her) "the spouses don't like pouches." She likes MREs but thinks, that unlike us guys, women prefer eating food out of bowls, which is why Wornicks Eversafe might be the ticket for family emergenc...

Stay Alert caffeine gum

I just received some Stay Alert caffeine supplement chewing gum from actiongear.com. The website says the gum will be included in First Strike rations. The gum is cinnamon flavored, and each piece is 100 mg caffeine: "Chew 1 piece for 5 minutes. If not alert chew a second piece." "do not use as a su...

Kman, I agree with you. I was disappointed with Wornick's Eversafe meal, as well as the price. Wornick's 1999 civilian MREs were a better deal. I think they are going after the corporate emergency market. I'd rather order off ebay or parts from epicenter. SoFloAuthor, thanks for the lead about mrefo...

MRE/Hooah bars in Outdoor Life column

In the June/July Outdoor Life magazine - on newsstands now - the Survival column by Rich Johnson is titled "Eat to Survive." It lists MREs and Hooah Bars right off as "our favorite survival foods." Third was Mountain House freeze-dried meals. Nice photos, too.

Hey folks, Just checked and Wornick's new Eversafe meal kit site is finally up (geteversafe.com). It is...interesting. The free offer turns out to be buy nine meals (for a 72 hour kit) and get one free to sample. :( Packaging is more commercial. First impressions: I like Sopacko better. What do you ...

Great links. Menu sounds good. I especially like this sentence:

"We're so certain you'll find EverSafeâ„¢ a superior solution that we offer a free trial kit allowing you to preview the product" :)

Wornick Website redone, Eversafe meal, First Strike info...

Thanks for this great website. I'm a MRE fan, and have enjoyed reading people's comments. Wornick has redone their webpage--this week I think--and has posted more information about their Eversafe menu kits, as well as a menu. The menue contents still appear to be basic MRE components, hashbrowns wit...
