I just cut off the mil-spec end that came with it anyway and put on a regular 12V plug. I know they make plug/switch combos. It shouldn't be too hard to find one and install. Lots of YT vids on doing those sort of connections if you haven't done many.

I would consider looking at a few hard tack recipes, I add sea salt to the tops for a little flavor. That stuff will last decades just sealed in a tin. My personal go to though is oatmeal.
