Re: Unknown Wornick Ration - Help Needed

The packaging says commercial production, obviously before 2006 :P

Is there a date code pressed or stamped in the packaging anywhere? Sometimes they can be kind of light and hard to see.

Re: Chocolate Bars

You can get Scho-ka-kola from Varusteleka, fairly reasonable shipping to both the US and the EU:

Re: 2021 MCW

That's nice that it has a full year shown, I wish they would use a 5 digit date on the outer packaging of the others to take the guess work out of which decade it's form.

Re: UGR Dessert Trays

Hmm, I suppose it's possible they could be from 2009/2010? They were from UGRs used for field training, so hopefully they're 19/20. I've also opened two of the cakes and some cookies and they were still just fine.

Trays also have a production date stamped on, see e.g.
Yes, their Julian year is either 9 or 0. I don't remember when they switched to the plastic trays, do you?

UGR Dessert Trays

I salvaged some dessert trays from the Army, who were going to throw them away! I guess their soldiers didn't deserve dessert for something? I think they are all 2019/2020 dates of production, plastic trays with attached icing packet for the cakes. Would be happy to trade for some non-MRE rations, o...

1992 Armed Forces Recipe Service Collection

Found this while cleaning out our building for a remodel. Our foodservice has been contracted as long as I've been in, but I heard the tales of when we had our own cooks.

Re: MRE Cracker perforations, anyone ever gotten these to work right?

I definitely prefer the "vegetable" ones, remind me of Wheatsworth crackers.

Regarding the perforations, I'd have success in snapping them on the edge of something like you would after scoring drywall. They might even share some ingredients.
