Re: How to Field Strip an MRE in 12 Easy Steps
Pretty much what I do, except since they stop being MREs and become "Meals Planning To Eat", and I'm the one gonna be eatin'em, I always toss in some extras like jerky and granola bars. The other thing you can do to save weight is to use a vacuum freezer-sealer. The plastic is pretty tough, the vac ...

Re: Halal Chocolate Pudding for dessert tonight
There certainly was nothing "Indian" about the pudding, but if I could get the Jalfazi in the supermarket Indian retort pouches like my Dal Maakni, I'd be on it regular!

Re: US MRE Menu #20 - Hash Brown Potato
I've had this pak before and you definitely want to go light on the water quantity in the granola [even the MH commercial pouch]. I've had good luck adding a couple of the tiny-cup,"shelf stable" creamers like you get with a go-coffee at the 7-11. Use less water, let it soak and then toss in two tin...

Halal Chocolate Pudding for dessert tonight
IMG_4851.JPG Don't know why the post photos keep getting rotated, but... Leftover from a Halal Lamb Jalfrazi pak that I got from someone on here. I had the main a couple of Falls ago on a camping trip over in the White Mountains. I paired it with a side of commercial retort pouch Saag Paneer [spina...

NOMing on an '06 Spice cake
IMG_4850.JPG I warmed it out in the sun [90° on my porch right now here in Moosenut Falls, ME], and I'm happy to report that it tastes jus' fine! Still flavorful, crumbly, and still one of my all-time favz. I am moving south to Carolina soon and today I had the sad task of picking thru my stash and...

All Gotta GO !
I am going to be moving, and the MRE stash is not going to make the cut. These are all "eaters" dating '06-'09 with a few others... nothing special or foreign . Also part of a case of civvie-eaters ['12 ?] Some sealed, some just mains-and-sides combos. No full cases [I don't think...] Lots of loose ...

Re: need help
Trust me when I say that ANYthing was possible in Vietnam. The outfit I was assigned to did not officially exist, and the Air Force to this day does not acknowledge that our mission ever happened. But it did - for four years. I believe the term was "plausible deniability". Many things never happene...
