Re: 2002 Turkey Breast with Gravy and Potatoes MRE Review

I bought a couple dozen of these entrees as gag gifts years ago and handed them out as "Thanksgiving (or Christmas) Dinner". Most recipients got a good laugh!

Re: 80s US MRE?

Sounds like the "Beef Pattie" (menu #3) from the early MREs -- 1981 through 1987.

As I recall, some of those early entrees were not shelf-stable, but dehydrated. They had to be soaked in water, then heated. I had a few of those, but never tried them out.

Re: Civilian version of FSR sandwich?

No? No, what?

The 99¢ price? The free samples sitting on my desk right now? Or the case price of $125?

Re: Today for Lunch: TURKEY BREAST PATTY WITH POTATOES IN GRAVY

I've got about ten of these left. Gave a few away as "budget Thanksgiving dinners" to a few friends. The turkey patty is very dense and chewy (at least mine was). For variety, I took the turkey patty and put it between some cheese and bread and made a grilled turkey melt sandwich.

I got 1400. But they used one of my pics! It was the late 1970s LRP ration review of Chicken Stew Hey...we gotta give extra credit to the military food! That Chicken Stew I revived was made in the late 1970s!! That's some THIRTY-YEAR-OLD meal, man! Put that up against your Singapore Airlines stuff!

Re: best place to buy MRE food?

I've used theepicenter.com before and got good deals on individual entrees and such. My local survival goods store, SOS Survival Products, carries SurePak and I get a nice discount off the regular price. If anyone's in the southern California area, check them out. Also, online at http://www.sosprodu...

I'm just thinking of all the "MRE trash" from a night like this -- cardboard, plastic, foil pouches!

Re: Civilian version of FSR sandwich?

If you're in southern California, you just missed the parking lot sale at SOS Survival Products. Jeff (the owner) had a bin of Bridgford shelf-stable sandwichs out there . . . for 99¢ each! Since I still need to buy emergency food for our new school, I contacted the Bridgford manager back in NY and ...
