Hello,
I’m currently stationed at Bagram, Afghanistan. Just got a current issue Korean ration pack. I’ll post photos as soon as I get some decent bandwidth.
Cheers,

Re: Q: FILLED FRENCH TOAST
Sounds like a substitution to me. I just had Filled French Toast last week out of an FSR here in Afghanistan. It is based on Shelf Stable Bread Technology and tastes like a Brown Sugar Pop Tart, a little dry.

Re: All the First Strike Rations I Can Eat
Breakfast Day 4 Got up this morning and had the Bacon Cheddar Sandwich, it was basically two pieces of precooked bacon rapped in cheddar flavored shelf stable bread - GOOD. So far all of the items using shelf stable bread are to say the least on the dry side! To qualify my rating criteria of NOT TO ...

Re: All the First Strike Rations I Can Eat
Day 2 Breakfast Got up this morning and fixed breakfast from FSR #1; Filled French Toast was a giant unfrosted brown sugar Poptart with shelf stable bread – VERY GOOD, Mocha First Strike Bar was like a big smashed Tootsie Roll with Rice Crispies – VERY GOOD, so I’m off to the races. Stuffed the Stay...

Re: All the First Strike Rations I Can Eat
Winter is definitely here with night time temperatures in the twenties and teens. For a late snack, before crawling into my sleeping bag, I opened my Menu #1 FSR. There are definitely enough items in there to satisfy what you’re hungry for. I pulled out the pepperoni sandwich, Zapplesauce, and tropi...

All the First Strike Rations I Can Eat
Four months ago I took a job as a civilian contractor in Southwest Asia (SWA) and recently was reassigned to Afghanistan to support Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF). I recently flew out to a Combat Outpost (COP) to repair some equipment. Being a very small base supplied by air the Dining Facility (D...

First Legal MRE....
Hello,
I’ve signed on as a civilian contractor and am heading for IRAQ! But, the really big news is that today I had my first (legitimate) MRE for lunch, enchiladas. Once I’m in place I’ll try and keep you all posted on the latest, like First Strike Rations and such.
Cheers,
George

Very interesting post for me. I’d ordered 2 cases of MREs from one of the sellers listed in this report and never received the goods. I ended up filing a claim with Ebay/PayPal to get a partial refund. Thought he was a dead beat but turns out the MAN put him out of business, sorry for any hard feeli...

This brings back the memories. When I was in the Air Force from 1980 to 1986, MREs were just coming into common use in the USAF. During deployments on what we called Bare Base, they would issue the MREs and as long as there was hot water they were OK. However, I remember many a long flight in the ba...

Major Surplus in Southern California at http://www.majorsurplusnsurvival.com. I’m in SoCal and have shopped there off and on for years. There inventory turns over fast so call for availability. I was in there once and a guy and what appeared to be three wives with more kids than I could count were s...
