Meals Ready to Explode: Wow! I had never seen those pics before. Great link. I always sort of thought the hazard angle was overplayed, but maybe not...

Nice work, Kman. I know a lot of people who are hinky about the allegedly, supposedly, black market nature of MRE buying who want to get some Earthquake/disaster supplies without wondering about bending/breaking the law. Your new descriptions are really helpful to those folks. I was wondering, what ...

Great articles.

King, did I read that contract correctly? The MRE manufacturers are getting price adjustments of $140-167 MILLION dollars each for their MRE contracts? Wow! What were the original contract prices, I wonder? Those are some big bucks.

Electric MRE heater? Huh?

Was trolling for MREs on ebay and found this listing for a "Genuine US Military Electric MRE Heater." Never heard of such a thing. Here is the link. What's the deal? Legit or should I have posted under ebay asshats... http://cgi.ebay.com/Genuine-US-Military-Electric-MRE-Heater-Ration-Humvee_W0QQitem...

Looked at the eversafe site. Very interesting. Not surprising that it does not appeal to hardcore MRE users--not as much bang for the buck. But I do think there is a market for this type of meal. Kman hit it on the head: an office manager or school principal could justify ordering a bunch of these t...

I voted "yes" but I must say that 6 cents is a lot for that little plastic bag. I figure when you buy in bulk like the military you could get it down under a nickel...

Excellent review. I love the pic of the entree with the single bite out of it. Photographic evidence that you actually tried it!

Gotta try the scone out on my picky eater kids.

I'm also in CA and have found a couple of occasional ebay sellers in Oxnard and also in Washington state who did not break the bank on shipping. I am bummed about the longlife gouging. I was going to load up on some of the sides that my kids like for my earthquake kit. May still do it, but will feel...

They sound like they have good ideas about how to approach the market. The kid friendly thing is very intriguing. That is something I have been scratching my head about too. I opened some of my MREs to let the kids try them out. My 10 year old really dug them--especially the heater. The pickier kids...
