Re: Lurp for sale on eBay!
Very true. The wet season provided more opportunities to gather water in the field to reconstitute the LRP rations but since water attracts life it was common for reconnaissance troops to avoid gathering water in order to avoid contact with enemy patrols. Not that they didn't take the opportunity wh...

Re: Lurp for sale on eBay!
Joke? That could swing either way. I'm sure I'm not the only member that can recall wondering if this were the case when reading a description on fleece-bay. Anyone else remember the seller who listed MRE's and described the "SF" marking on the case as being "Special Forces Issue"? Oregon Fre...

Hey TurtleNomad- Geek! (from me, that is always the highest order of compliment) Oh yea!?..... Oh yea!?.... well.... just because my Phd in Origami napkin folding is taking a little longer than expected to pay off! Just wait! I'll show you. I'll show all of you when I get my second Master's in soap ...

Re: Prepare your home!
Actually with the AA12 you're both right! In a way.... You can walk into a gun shop and purchase provided the shop is licensed to sell NFA firearms. This is also the case if the AA12 was manufactured before the '86 law went into effect or was 'Grandfathered' in. Otherwise... The only other way to le...

Re: 3-man hide position
rationtin440- Yes. The 3-man hide is primarily used for surveillance purposes. Hence the 'hide' in the description. It's a covert observation post or 'O.P.' used to watch any number of 'targets' whether human, a building, coordinates on a map in the middle of nowhere. The 'hide' is created in a simi...

Re: All Quiet On The Western Front (Full Movie)
One of the best movies made. While the classic black & white version is the best, the later remake starring Ernest Borgnine and 'John Boy' wasn't bad either. I watched the classic probably within the past year, probably on AFI and it's still one of those films that makes me cancel all plans, turn th...

Any chance of making these or the 'source' available?
Never seem 'em before either. Can you provide more info?
Would you say the pouch is about the size of the syrup/ icing pouches included with some UGR trays?
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Re: OATMEAL COOKIE BAR DoP 1991
During Desert Storm I believe Marines moved into the area around the Kuwaiti Zoo. I seem to recall they tried feeding the starving camels these oatmeal bars and not only did they turn their noses up at them... the starving camels actually trotted away!

Re: New shelter rations?
You know any time FEMA is mentioned doing something only good things can come of it! If you want to know what's in FEMA's new 'ration' it might be easier to ask a surviving Soviet-era political dissident who grew up behind the Iron Curtain. I am sure any one of them can still rattle off the i...

Re: Cherry Nut Cake Question
Just wondering how the Cherry Nut Cake turned out? You might be able to ask a local pastry shop or mom-pop bakery if they can decypher the recipe. I once took the ingredients for the MCI pound cake to a local baker. She was not only nice enough to figure it all out for me in relation to the amount o...
