The .gov that’s who.
Never had combo pretzels, pretzel sticks, patriot cookies, etc. in an MRE?
Nope. The only MREs I've ever had was when I was 14 years old, back in 1997. Those were Royal Danish Army MREs. There were no pretzels, cookies, or similar in them. There was, however, hard candies, chewing gum, and the like. And powdered vegetable, and tomato soups. And the main meals themselves, freeze-dried stuff that needed to be poured into half a liter (about a pint and a bit) of cold water, and then heated up.

-pouches of tuna, salmon & chicken, single serving pouches of spam
-small cans of crab, ham, shrimp, tins of sardines, small cans of Vienna sausage
-if you can find them, the small single serving cans of pork & beans or "Beanie Weenies" are pretty good
-starting to see small plastic cups of vegetables such as corn or peas; haven't tried them, but they look promising
-small plastic cups of fruit are a real pick-me-up
-several companies now make single-serving cups or pouches of precooked, ready-to-eat rice
-Little Debbie makes some pretty dense brownies that have survived week-long treks in the bottom of my Boy Scout backpack
-single serving envelopes of instant soups & instant oatmeal
-single serving envelopes of apple cider & hot cocoa, plus sticks of instant coffee
-sticks of instant lemonade
-recommend some of the starch jelly candies, marketed in the US as "orange slices"
-microwave mac & cheese can be cooked in a small pan or large mug; just add BOILING water and simmer until done
-if you will save the plastic tub (with snap-on lid) that GFIC "Suisse Mocha" instant coffee comes in, it makes a good crush-proof container for crackers

Hope this helps.

(By the way, been teaching backpacking to Boy Scouts for over 30 years now))
"I think," said Christopher Robin, "that we ought to eat all our Provisions now, so that we shan't have so much to carry."
