RCIR shipment in limbo

Postby Barbeerian » Sat Dec 02, 2017 8:12 pm

Greetings,

I have a shipment of 12 Rcir's from the UK sitting in Louisville KY. I can only assume it is being held by customs. It has been there for over a week. UPS can tell me nothing... Has anyone else had to deal with this?

Thanks in Advance,

Jon Pulicicchio (Barbeerian)

What exactly does it say?
If you see anywhere "inbound into customs" then it's time to pray.
If not, then chances are it's just a holiday delay, which may take up to 2 weeks for them to get to your parcel and process it.

I had a package sit at the USPS hub in Chicago for 3 whole weeks around this time last year. It did arrive eventually and in perfect shape.

Same here, had one from Estonia sit in customs for a week, even though it said processed through ics New York. Luckily I have a friend who works for usps and can help me with the hang ups.

Well, thanks for the messages of encouragement. But as of yesterday the Customs Dept of agriculture has denied entry into the US. Not much reason given..... what I did find out was that French RCIR "meat items" unless it comes with a 'certification' (what ever that means) are not allowed into the US.

It said on UPS's tracking site: '"held in warehouse". Nothing more..... The agent said it was being help by Dept of Agriculture for two weeks. On the last day they denied entry and UPS sent an email to the shipper to pay for return or abandon parcel.

But was when it hit the customs port of entry customs in Louisville KY that's were is stopped.

Well after contacting the US Customs Dept of Agriculture arm. They basically said ANY item containing meat or meat byproduct (which would be most MRE entree's etc.) will be denied entry into the United states. These are the same rules used by the Food and Drug arm as well. Well...... That sucks. So much for emergency prep and MRE collection hobby.

Hi John! Unfortunately that happens frequently. It's a terrible feeling, a huge waste, and a stupid regulation. The EU food laws are much more strict than FDA food regulations. Until there is some sort of international reciprocity for other nations that meet or exceed our own food laws, or a blanket approval of NATO rations..this will continue to happen.
