Gentlemen:

In connection with 50 years of our National Service our Armed Forces conducted a series of public exhibitions around the island.
Of interest to ration enthusiasts were their display of current field rations which we use.
Of very special interest is something they are calling a "Special Field Ration" which apparently is issued to Special Forces and etc personnel.
They added a commercial off the shelf freeze-dried entree, an FRH, a commercial energy bar, and they said "Job Done!" :D

But enough of my intro: now on to the pictures

For the completionists or the observant: They neglected to display one type of ration - the One Meal Ration (no nut and bean)

Luckily i happen to have one lying around the house :D (No, im not opening it)
It's meant for soldiers who have G6PD deficiency apparently
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glucose-6 ... deficiency

Which is a head scratcher as i do have it and i don't recall these rations being issued way back when.
Oh well.

No probs

As an asides, i remarked to the nice Warrant Officer from Supply who was present at the exhibition "so they finally stopped issuing hot engines to commandos huh?"

He made a funny sort of face and agreed : D

That remark comes into context if you know how we're supposed to warm them up :P
Anyone has tried the COTS entree and energy bar?

Method 4 of heating is too cool! They should also add, sticking the entree pack in the exhaust pipe of the vehicle. To me that actually works better than the engine... If you don't mind a little exhaust smell on your retort pouch!

Hi to all,

Excellent review.

With the recent heatwave we had a couple of weekends ago, we tried the "fried egg on the bonnet of a Jeep".

This puzzled the general public,
